Double birthday present for Brandon racquetball ace

Brandon’s Kurtis Cullen celebrated his birthday in style on Saturday in Burnaby, B.C.

Cullen, who turned 19 on Saturday, won both the boys’ 18-and-under singles and doubles titles at the Canadian junior racquetball championships.

Cullen beat Coby Iwaasa of Lethbridge, Alta., in the singles final and then teamed up with Edmonton’s Kevin Caouette to beat Quebec’s Samuel Murray and Sebastien Juteau in the 18-and-under doubles final.

Cullen wasn’t the only Brandon athlete to enjoy success on Saturday. Max Paddock won the boys 10-and-under title, while Connor Madill and Graham Frattinger of Martensville, Sask., won the 12-and-under boys’ doubles final.
